Phuket’s tourism industry being more and more popular is bringing in the tourists and raising the income of the tour companies and related industries. Unfortunately this also drives up the prices of goods and services for the local Thai people.
What is happening is that poor Thai people move to Phuket in the hope that they will find good paying jobs and make a decent income. But what ends up happening is that they do not get the good paying jobs and are now left having to pay out much more money for the higher costs of living in Phuket.
The Phuket Sunshine Village has been doing a good job over the last 10 years to help out the poor but may be running into problems of it’s own.
