Similan Islands Overview

The Similan Islands are now open for the tourist season.

The group of islands are nine altogether although you may only be able to visit two or three unless you are on an extended stay.
The first one has some very interesting giant boulders that are a must see for all tourists. They overlook a beautiful white beach and are a very well known landmark and climbing up on tn top of the boulders will give you a great view of the bay and the surroundings.

Snorkeling is of course a very exciting experience as the water is so beautifully clear and feeding the fish is fun.

Willy Thuan has provided a very interesting article on this subject with a few pictures to give you an idea of what the area looks like and more in depth written information.
You can view Willy’s article here: http://www.phuket101.net/2011/01/similan-islands-thailand.html

Getting to the Similan islands can be accomplished from the many your operators out of of either Phuket or Khao Lak.
On your journey en-route to the Similan island I would suggest staying at one of the many beautiful accommodations in Kaho Lak as shown below.

If you are looking for a lower cost yet clean and quiet Villa I would suggest the following as I personally stay there and really enjoy the service and quiet atmosphere.
